My name is Asun Álvarez, and I am a former academic and full-time linguist.

As a translator
- I have more than 15 years’ experience as an academic writer and translator.
- I also worked as an in-house translator at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.
- I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and professionally proficient in French, Italian, Portuguese, and Catalan.
- I translate from Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Catalan into English.
- I also translate into Spanish and French.
- I am qualified as a translator by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London. I am also part of the United Nations roster of translators, and passed the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs State examination for translators.
As an academic
- I hold a B.A. in Linguistics (specialising in Computational Linguistics) and a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Cognitive Science from the Complutensian University of Madrid, as well as a Ph.D. in Philosophy from King’s College London.
- I also hold an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, and am a published poetry and fiction author in Spanish and English. My writing website is asunalvarez.com.
